Quincy When landowners don’t know where to start, land management might feel overwhelming.
It’s simple to feel stuck when there are so many things to think about. The goal of the Your Land, Your Legacy workshop series is to simplify difficult subjects into doable, realistic steps. This series gives landowners the self-assurance and knowledge they need to take better care of their property.
Get to Know Your Woods, the next workshop in the series, will take place on Wednesday, July 16 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Adams County Extension Office, located at 330 S. 36th.
There are two ways to register: program simply or supper and program. The event will start on time at 5:30 p.m., with dinner provided at 5 p.m.
Landowners who wish to learn more about their forested property and make wise decisions regarding its maintenance are the target audience for this program. Landowners will benefit from this session:
- Set meaningful land management goals
- Use maps and site data to understand your property
- Learn what site characteristics are, and why they matter
- Gain an understanding of forest measurement techniques like point sampling and tree diversity assessments
- Explore practical land care strategies, including timber stand improvement, invasive species control and pruning
Experts in forestry and land management lead this course, which combines guidance with practical instruction. The knowledge and self-assurance participants gain will enable them to take care of their forests and protect them for future generations. This fall, participants will receive an invitation to a follow-up forestry walk.
It is necessary to register. Go to go.illinois.edu/Your-Woods to learn more or to register.
