Virginia Mildred “Jinny” Ruppin — Hansen-Spear

Quincy resident Virginia Mildred Jinny Ruppin, 93, passed away at Blessing Hospital on Wednesday, August 6, 2025, at 7:00 p.m.

Born in Oconto, Wisconsin, on January 14, 1932, Jinny was the daughter of Mildred Marie Coleman MacFarlane and Harvey Finnis. She married Donald Bruno Ruppin in Oconto, Wisconsin, on November 25, 1954. He passed away on August 16, 2013, before her.

Jinny graduated from Appleton, Wisconsin’s Lawrence University. She worked as a social worker for her whole career after graduating with a Master of Social Work from the University of Kansas. She has worked at Catholic Charities in Kansas City, Missouri, and the Salvation Army Booth Home for Unwed Mothers in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

Jinny was involved in charity work outside of her job, especially at Hope House and Lake Area Regional Hospital. She devoted a large portion of her time to service because she was devoted to sharing the gospel. She loved singing, traveling, and listening to music in her spare time.

Among the survivors are two daughters, Nancy A. (Gene) Bluhm of Quincy and Peggy (Edward) Lane of Kansas City, MO; two grandchildren, Laura (Abraham) Rohde of Fredonia, WI and Randy (Andrea) Bluhm of St. Louis, MO; eight great-grandchildren, including Evelyn, Percy, Alice, and Isla Rohde; a sister-in-law, Carole Anderson of Menomonee Falls, WI; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Jinny’s parents, two sisters, Janet Bearss and Doris Vance, and a sister who was still a baby all died before her husband.

Visitation: No visitation is scheduled.

Pastor Marshall Frisque will officiate the graveside service in Arlington Park Cemetery in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, on Tuesday, August 12, 2025, at 2:00 p.m.

Interment: Milwaukee, Wisconsin’s Arlington Park Cemetery
