Tracy running for re-election in 50th Senate District, vows to continue fight against Pritzker policies

Quincy On Tuesday, Jil Tracy, a Republican from Quincy, declared her intention to compete for reelection to the Illinois Senate in the 50th District.

According to a press release, Tracy, the Senate Republican Whip, is running for a second term in order to continue opposing Gov. J.B. Pritzker’s tax-and-spend fiscal policies and to defend Illinois people from onerous mandates and government overreach.

Tracy stated that she is running for re-election in order to speak out for the hardworking families of Illinois who don’t feel like they have a voice in Springfield. Our taxpayers are heavily burdened by Gov. Pritzker’s sanctuary state agenda, reckless budgets, and increased taxes. I’ll keep fighting against these careless policies, opposing illegal sanctuary measures, preventing any new tax increases, and defending our families’ liberties and values from the expansion of big government.

According to Tracy, she has opposed sanctuary state laws in Illinois because she feels they endanger public safety and waste tax dollars. She attacked Gov. Pritzker for enacting legislation that severely restricts collaboration with federal immigration enforcement, especially when serious criminals are involved, and for developing new initiatives to offer undocumented immigrants free benefits like state-funded healthcare.

According to Tracy, our towns shouldn’t have to pay billions of dollars for the governor’s sanctuary policies while he restrains police enforcement.

Tracy has supported the conservative ideals of individual liberty, limited government, and economic prudence while she has been in office. Her main goals have been to implement changes that will create jobs, restore budgetary stability, and boost economic growth. She promises to uphold Illinois families’ rights, finances, and way of life while continuing to act as a check and balance on the Pritzker administration’s power.

Twelve counties in west-central Illinois—Adams, Brown, Calhoun, Cass, Greene, Jersey, Macoupin, Madison, Morgan, Pike, Schuyler, and Scott—are all or parts of the 50th Senate District. Tracy resides in Quincy with her spouse, Jim. They have ten grandchildren and four grown children between them.

From July 2006 to January 2015, Tracy served in the Illinois House of Representatives. When Kirk Dillard lost to Bruce Rauner in the 2014 Republican primary for governor of Illinois, she was his running partner.

In 2015, she declared her intention to run for the State Senate seat in the 47th District, which was left vacant by 14-year incumbent Democrat John M. Sullivan. She took up the State Senate seat in January 2017 after comfortably defeating independent Kurt Fowler. In 2018 and 2022, she ran for reelection in the 47th and 50th districts without any opposition.
