Quincy For their 30th season of performances, the Quincy Area Youth Chorus is inviting local vocalists to join them. Boys and girls in grades three through twelve who have unaltered voices are encouraged to try out.

QAYC is a performing and instructional outreach program that was founded in 1995 to support church and school choirs. While forming connections, students get lifelong skills and vocal training. Singing members who are accepted will join the Quincy Symphony Orchestra and Adult Chorus on April 19, 2026, at Morrison Theater, and perform as an ensemble at two of their own concerts.

Beginning at 10 a.m. on Saturday, August 2, the QAYC will have kid-friendly auditions at Christ Lutheran Church, located at 333 S. 36th St. Children who are auditioning should prepare a song they want to sing. To schedule an audition, contact the Quincy Symphony office at 217-222-2856 x11.

The two performing ensembles that make up the QAYC are the Concert Choir, which is led by Paul Shelor for the older members, and the Kinderchor, which is led by Megan Masterman for the younger singers. Beginning on August 24, rehearsals take place on Saturday mornings or Sunday afternoons. A $5 costume rental fee is included in the $80 season’s tuition. It costs $60 for extra kids in the same household. No child’s financial necessity is a barrier to receiving a scholarship.
