Roger Thomas Littleton – O’Donnell-Cookson Life Celebration Home

Published On:

On Wednesday, July 2, 2025, Roger Thomas Littleton, 67, of Quincy, met his Savior in Guymon, Oklahoma.

James and Patricia (Dunker) Littleton welcomed Roger into the world on June 21, 1958, in Quincy, Illinois. Roger married Patricia Patty Fortner, the joy of his life, at Central Baptist Church in Quincy, Illinois, on October 20, 1979. Love, laughter, and two amazing kids were the blessings of their relationship. Patty is still there to pay tribute to him and carry on his loving legacy.

Roger’s world revolved on his family. His beloved grandchildren, Nora and Isla White, his daughters, Jennifer Littleton of Denver, Colorado, and Danielle White (Timothy) of Quincy, Illinois, as well as an eagerly awaited grandson, survive him. In addition, he leaves behind his sister Marsha Hickerson, brother Paul Littleton (Melody), and several nieces, nephews, and trucking pals who grew to be like brothers to him over the years. Roger’s parents, brother Russell Littleton and sister Joyce Buddemeyer, passed away before him.

Roger graduated in the class of 1976 from Quincy High School. He followed in his father’s footsteps and worked in trucking for almost 50 years, earning recognition for his teamwork and work ethic. He particularly liked his eight years at BNC Trucking. He achieved a 5-million-mile record over his lengthy career. The foundation of Roger’s life was his faith. He taught Sunday School, drove the van for Awana, and loved the fellowship that followed each service as a devoted member of Columbus Road Baptist Church. His generosity and steadfast support of his family demonstrated his faith.

Roger has a wide range of passions and interests. Being a passionate golfer, he enjoyed spending time with his brother on the Westview course, particularly when they played in charity competitions like COE College Athletics. He had always been a longtime fan of the St. Louis Cardinals and relished the simple thrill of listening to baseball games on the radio. His admiration for his cousin Jeff Stoutland, a well-known offensive line coach and run game coordinator, bolstered his love for the Philadelphia Eagles. Because of their passion for travel, Roger and Patty have taken trips to Disney, Alaska, Costa Rica, and Israel, all of which have left them with priceless memories.

Roger was a family man first and foremost, and he loved the peaceful times spent at home. He was happiest when he was among his loved ones, whether he was reading the newspaper and laughing at the Dilbert comic, listening to music from the 1960s, 1970s, and 1980s, grilling for his family with skill, or playing Skip-bo with Patty. Roger was well-known for his diligence and unending generosity, constantly laboring to support his family. As a last gesture of generosity that perfectly captured his giving and devout nature, Roger decided to donate his organs, continuing his legacy of generosity even after his death. Everyone who had the honor of knowing him will miss him terribly, and his memory will always be treasured.

The visitation for Roger’s Life Celebration is scheduled for Saturday, July 12, 2025, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am at Columbus Road Baptist Church in Quincy, IL, and friends and family are invited. At 11:00 am, Pastor Bob Cowman will preside over a funeral ceremony. The burial will take place in Quincy, Illinois at Greenmount Cemetery.

Memorial donations can be donated to the COE Athletic Golf Outing and Fundraiser or the Salvation Army.
