On June 29, 2025, Robert Joseph Jeffries, age 86, passed away.We are deeply saddened by the loss of Robert Joseph Jeffries, also known as Bob, Bobby Joe, or Jeff. He passed away quietly on June 29, 2025, at the age of 86.On June 25, 1939, Robert was born in Denver, Colorado. He served with pride in the US Navy, exhibiting the same discipline and sense of duty that would eventually characterize both his personal and professional lives. He retired after a lengthy and well-respected career as a systems analyst in the civil service, dedicating his civilian career to public service following his military duty.Robert was raised in and around Quincy, Illinois, where he always thought of as home, even though he lived much of his life in the Lowcountry. He treasured the times he spent swimming in the nearby rock quarries and going on adventures with his local pals.Robert later developed a passion for golf and enjoyed going to the Masters Tournament in Augusta, Georgia. He was an ardent supporter of the South Carolina Gamecocks, and his passion for the great outdoors, particularly boating and fishing, mirrored his passion for sports. He gave freely of his time, volunteering at his church and, more recently, with the Charleston Elks Lodge 242, where he made a lot of lifelong friends.Robert was a devoted great-grandfather, grandfather, and father. His surviving family includes his son, Robert (Robbie) Joseph Jeffries Jr., and his wife, Colleen, of Valdez, Alaska; his daughter, Suzette Jeffries Timme, and her husband, Rear Admiral William Timme, USN (Ret.) of Arlington, Virginia; step-grandchildren, Brendan Conners (wife Jen) of Stevensville, Montana, and Casey Jeffries (wife Becca) of Valdez, Alaska; granddaughter, Anna-Grace Jeffries of Valdez, Alaska; Savannah Blaire Timme of Seattle, Washington; Morgan Brianne Timme of Wageningen, Netherlands; and great-grandchildren, Aidan Conners (son of Brendan) and Alaina Jeffries (daughter of Casey). In addition, his nephews Randy and Mike Williams, niece Vicki Altizer, and stepbrother Larry Williams of Louisville, Kentucky, survive him.He will be remembered for his generosity, humor, gentle heart, and thoughtfulness. Many people loved him as a friend because of his quiet strength and unwavering devotion, and he left a legacy of love, kindness, and service.
