Rev. Raven & The Chain Smokin’ Altar Boys to perform at Blues in the District Friday, Aug. 8

Quincy Blues A well-liked custom in Quincy, In The District brings together music enthusiasts to honor the Blues’ sounds. On Friday, August 8, at 5:30 p.m., Rev. Raven & the Chain Smokin Altar Boys will perform in Washington Park.

B.B. King, Gatemouth Brown, Pinetop Perkins, Lonnie Brooks, Lefty Dizz, Fabulous Thunderbirds, Jeff Healy, and many more have all performed at festivals as the Reverend’s opening act.

According to executive director Brianna Rivera, Reverend Raven and the Chain Smokin Altar Boys, a classic Blues band with a great deal of love for the genre and performance, will be performing at the fifth show in the Blues In The District series. Attendees of the concert may anticipate an amazing musical evening.

Slim Harpo, Little Walter, Jimmy Rogers, Billy Boy Arnold, Junior Wells, and the Three Kings are all referenced in the band’s original tunes.

Children’s activities will be provided by Blessing Health System in collaboration with Quincy Children’s Museum, and families can eat at JKW BBQ and Big Bro’s BBQ, two nearby restaurants. Additionally, TCBY will have frozen yogurt delights at the park.

According to Rivera, 2025 will be the 28th season of Blues In The District, which began in 1998. Once again, this year’s lineup is excellent. We hope that everyone will continue to enjoy this cherished custom. Everyone is welcome to join us at Washington Park for a fun time, so please bring lawn chairs, food, and beverages. Participants are reminded by the District that glass containers and tents are not permitted.

The second and fourth Fridays in June, July, and August are when Blues In The District happens.

On August 22, Lil Ed and the Blues Imperials will be the last acts in the 2025 Blues in the District lineup.
