Registration being taken for Butterfly Moments event in Moorman Park on Aug. 17

Published On:

Butterfly Moments will return on Sunday, August 17 at 1:30 p.m. at the huge shelter house in Moorman Park, thanks to QUINCY Blessing Hospice.

All locals are welcome to purchase and release a butterfly in remembrance of a departed loved one. Hospice care is not a requirement for the one being honored.

The butterfly represents the passage from life to death. As it prepares to transform into a beautiful butterfly and start a new life, the caterpillar builds its cocoon.

Each butterfly costs $10. By August 1st, orders must be placed online at blessinghealth.org/butterflymoments and filled out.

At 2 p.m., the names of those being honored will be listed, and the butterflies will be released simultaneously. A member of the Blessing Hospice staff will release the butterfly if the person who reserved it is unable to come.

If it rains, those who have reserved butterflies will go to Moorman Park and retrieve their butterflies to release when the weather clears.

There is another entry from Columbus Road between 36th and 48th Streets, and the Moorman Park large shelter house is located off North 36th Street.
