Quincy When members of the Quincy Artists Guild display their art in a free exhibition, it promises to be a sight to behold.

Starting on Saturday, August 2, watercolors, oils, and pastels will be on display at the Cheryl Loatsch Studio, which is situated at 334 South 48th Street.

John Preston, a teacher, artist, and guild member, is being honored at this fifth annual event.

According to a press release from the Loatsch Studio’s Jill Schuckman, John has traveled both domestically and abroad. A prolific artist who is well-known for sharing his skills and generosity with others.

Preston frequently walks viewers through the entire process of creating a piece of art on Facebook.

Taking inspiration from him, guild members participating in the exhibition will be available to tell the audience more about their preferred media and demonstrate or talk about the technique used.

Both 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. and 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. are regular viewing hours. 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, and Monday through Thursday. On Sundays, the studio is closed.

The occasion marks the end of a year filled with exploration and camaraderie among guild members who are excited to present their artwork, some of which incorporates new methods they have picked up from other artists.

Additionally, more artists or those who want to become artists are needed by the Quincy Artists Guild.

Members work in a wide range of mediums, including jewelry, painting, ceramics, printmaking, and sketching.

On Mondays, the Guild convenes at 9:00 a.m. Give (217) 257-5269 a call to learn more.
