Quincy Robert Lee Mejer, a respected professor of painting at Quincy University, was just chosen as the 2025 recipient of the Watercolor USA Honor Society’s (WHS) Lifetime Achievement Award.

Mejer is a recognized master of the Transparent Watercolor Society of America, a master fellowship member of the International Society of Experimental Artists, and a signature charter member of the National Watercolor Society. For four years, Mejer presided over WHS.

Mejer has spent 57 years at Quincy University. He founded QU Gray Gallery and serves as its curator. His artwork has been approved for more than 500 juried exhibits and displayed in over 65 solo exhibitions.

“In my work, I hope to present (inside to out) rather than represent (outside to in),” Mejer stated in a news statement.

With a special opening celebration on August 22, the Spiva Art Center in Joplin, Missouri, will host the 2025 Watercolor USA National Juried Exhibition from August 23 to October 11.
