Quincy Brandon Pratt discovered that he was unable to conceal the information about what he intended to bring to Quincy.
At 48th and Broadway, where the County Market once stood, Pratt, the owner of Gravy Train Restaurant Management and the creator of Lion Development Group, will open a Pizza Ranch franchise.
According to Pratt, local demand and demography were the primary factors in the choice to open in Quincy.
In a July 1 interview, Pratt stated, “I haven’t really experienced any sort of momentum like that.” The fact that someone discovered it through an Indeed ad and that it then propagated through a few media outlets usually generates some enthusiasm when we publish a press release.
Furthermore, we’ve already had inquiries regarding strategic alliances. We haven’t even begun building yet. We were, after all, about two months away from the time we usually make an announcement about our arrival. However, we are here because the thrill is genuine.
One of the biggest Pizza Ranch sites, the buffet-style restaurant will be over 15,000 square feet in size, with 300 seats and a FunZone arcade with 106 players. Based in North Liberty, Iowa, Pratt’s company currently has 11 Pizza Ranch locations, including Galesburg and Springfield. He intends to begin building in three weeks and open in the first quarter of 2026 or late in the fourth quarter of 2025.
Pratt stated, “We’ll have about 80 games, all state-of-the-art.” Imagine virtual reality roller coasters with large LED screens.
He claimed that for years, he had been considering opening a location in Quincy but had been unable to find the right fit. He claimed that this was the ideal choice because of the Broadway location and the collaboration with Niemann Foods.
According to Pratt, Pizza Ranch has about 225 stores across 13 states. It’s fantastic that this will be the second-largest arcade in the company. Although 15,000 square feet is not typical, it will be on the high side; I would definitely rank it in the top five for total square footage. Typically, they are between 7,500 and 9,000 square feet. But in order to get something that I believe we can do specifically for Quincy, we worked with the Niemanns on this site.
I am aware that the Niemanns stated they intended to find a new idea when they shuttered this food business. They wanted to exercise extreme caution, and I am aware that they were rather picky about who they hired. A great deal of synergy existed. In fact, they thought it was a terrific partnership when we first met. We thought the partnership was fantastic, and we got right into it. Again, it’s difficult to find a 15,000-square-foot facility on Broadway. They were searching for the ideal renter, and I believe they have found us.
According to Pratt, Pizza Ranch will employ 60–80 individuals and have a full-time local management staff.
“We are a family-run small business,” he stated. We want to be a part of the communities in which we operate, such as Quincy.
