Regarding last year’s near-fatal assassination attempt,
Donald Trump
has spoken out. To refresh your memory, Trump was stopped by gunfire on July 13 of last year while he was performing on stage in Butler, Pennsylvania, as part of the 2024 election campaign.
Secret service agents rushed to his location, and he was suddenly on the ground, seemingly bleeding from his ear. Before being bundled into his motorcade, he threw his fist in the direction of the audience as his protective detail escorted him away from his podium.
Crooks fired rounds into the crowd, killing one person, a firefighter named Corey Comperatore, and
critically
wounding two others. Trump managed to escape with a bleeding ear, seemingly saving his life with an unintentional head turn.
The assassin was
ultimately identified
as Thomas Matthew Crooks, a 20-year-old Republican voter from Pennsylvania, who was killed by secret service snipers who returned fire on the shooter. He is now discussing the incident in an interview that will air on Fox News tomorrow, July 12.
In a preview video, the US president discussed his current thoughts while being interviewed by his daughter-in-law, Lara Trump. He said: “Well, it was unforgettable, I didn’t know exactly what was going on. I got whacked.
There’s no question
about that.”
“Fortunately got down quickly, people were screaming and I got down quickly, I think he shot eight bullets and one got me and one got another one, and one got another one and one killed Corey the firefighter, great guy.”
In an interview that airs Monday, Trump recounts details about the attempted assassination:
– Nobody warned him.
– He was not delayed.
– Multiple people attempted to notify authorities.

The secret service “had a bad day,”
according to Trump
, who also described their “mistake” of not having someone stationed on the structure the shooter ascended onto. After the assassination attempt, six agents were suspended, and Corey Comperatore’s widow remarked, “our blood is all over their hands,” about a year after her husband was shot and murdered.
