QUINCY A Quincy man was charged by Attorney General Kwame Raoul on Friday for allegedly spreading content about child sexual assault.

David T. Tournear, 29, was charged by the AG’s office in Adams County Circuit Court with two Class X felony counts of disseminating child pornography, each of which carries a maximum sentence of 30 years in prison. The court has the final say over sentences. At the moment, Tournear is being held at the Adams County Jail.

A lifetime of trauma may be experienced by children who have been taken advantage of by predators who exchange child sexual abuse materials. According to Raoul, assisting survivors and their families in obtaining justice can be crucial to the healing process. To find and prosecute those who exploit children, my office’s Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force will keep collaborating with federal, state, and local law enforcement organizations. On Thursday, Tournear’s home in Quincy’s 2500 block of Cedar was searched by Raoul’s detectives and Adams County Sheriff’s office officials. After detectives found evidence of child sexual abuse, he was placed under arrest.

This case will be co-prosecuted by Raoul’s office and the office of the Adams County state attorney.

Assistant State’s Attorney Laura Keck stated that the Adams County State’s Attorney’s office is dedicated to bringing criminal charges against those who distribute child pornography. We appreciate being able to collaborate with the Illinois Attorney General’s Office to make sure the responsible parties are held to account.

The investigation is a component of Raoul’s continuous efforts to catch criminals who download and trade child sexual abuse content online, working with both local and federal law enforcement organizations across Illinois.

Raoul is reminding people that they may report child abuse at dcfsonlinereporting.dcfs.illinois.gov and child sexual exploitation at cybertipline.com. Additionally, childrensadvocacycentersofillinois.org lists nearby child advocacy centers.
