ICE Agents Under Intense Pressure as Donald Trump’s Deportation Agenda Takes a Toll

Published On:

Donald Trump

won his second term on the promise of throwing all the illegal immigrants out of this country using ICE agents. And that is one of the promises he is going above and beyond for so much so that his administration is going after the legal immigrants, too.

It has been almost 7 months since he took over the office, and a few months since

ICE

and the

Department of Homeland Security

have gone out of their way to chase the immigrants out. Within a few months, ICE is already reportedly overwhelmed.

ICE agents are tired and overloaded with the intense demands of the aggressive deportation agenda,

Stephen Miller is heading the charge to remove immigrants from the country. Now this effort of removing these people from America is not limited to only illegal immigrants, but is being extended to even legal immigrants. There is reportedly a pressure to arrest as many as 3000 people every day. In order to fulfil this quota, agents are also

raiding the immigration courts

where people are trying to get their status updates, through the Prosper channel.

Due to the stress of fulfilling this quota, ICE agents are now experiencing extreme stress and burnout.

It has been reported that agents are required to work extended hours, including weekends and early mornings.

As ICE agents embark on countless deportation raids in an effort to meet the White House’s daily arrest quota of 3,000, officers are becoming completely demoralized, several agents told The Atlantic.

“Morale is in the crapper,” a former ICE agent told Miroff on the condition….

One ICE agent described the operation as “mission impossible.” He has noted that the relentless pace and politically motivated quotas have turned this high-stress job into a punishing ordeal.

Even though there is massive funding for the department, it has done nothing to cheer up the agents and has rather caused people to suffer from low mood and depression.

Border Czar Tom Homan is a longtime Trump ally. It was reported that he was publicly scolded by the President. Donald Trump expected to see high numbers of deportations within 90 days and was not happy with the numbers presented by Homan.

This is Tom Homan, President Trump’s Border Czar. His message to all the illegals who crossed the border will give you goosebumps, “You better start packing now… cause you’re going home.”

And to the cartels, he said, “Trump will wipe you off the face of the Earth! YOU’RE…

Due to Donald Trump’s demands and with oversight from DOGE, the atmosphere at ICE is also one of job insecurity.

Agents and middle managers now face serious consequences if they fail to meet the daily quota of arrests set by the higher-ups. It has been indicated that those who do not meet the quota will either be demoted or have the risk of losing their job. The economy is going currently, it is difficult to even imagine not having a job and a paycheck.

This culture of fear has further eroded morale across ICE field offices nationwide.

Many agents are disappointed by the dramatic shift in the agency’s mission. Traditionally, ICE’s Homeland Security Investigations division focused on criminals and crimes like human trafficking, child abusers, etc. The main targets used to be drug traffickers; however, now they have to go and arrest innocent landscapers and laborers.

This shift is causing them to question their own work ethic. “Everything that made this job meaningful is being sidelined,” one agent said.

ICE is acting like an unregulated vigilante gang. Initially going after “criminals”, now any non-white immigrant…even those with temporary visas, going through the court system, doing the proper process. 🤬

Under the current policy, criminal investigations have been put far lower on the priority list in favor of domestic immigration arrests. The policy shift has raised serious questions. People are wondering if it is about public safety anymore. There is a question of ICE being used more as a political instrument than a law enforcement agency.

The emotional toll on ICE employees is increasing rapidly. Reports describe widespread hatred towards the agency leadership. Leadership is also deeply concerned about how the public perceives their work.

Many agents have faced hostility during operations. A growing number have expressed intentions to resign. The combination of unrealistic expectations, policy redirection, and declining morale has left ICE struggling not just with logistics, but with its identity.
