Missouri’s Hannibal. Everyone needs a friend. The annual Hannibal Regional Foundation walk honors four-legged pals and supports local cancer survivors and their families. The Paws For a Cause walk emphasizes how crucial pets are to many patients’ recovery and coping mechanisms.
On Saturday, September 6, at 9 a.m., the Hannibal Regional Healthy Way Fitness Trail will host this year’s Paws For a Cause walk. Buddy, a cherished golden retriever who has been a significant part of Paws For a Cause for many years and has now passed the rainbow bridge, is remembered this year. As this year’s grand marshals, we are also thrilled to welcome Sawyer, a happy new dog who will be joining cancer survivor Mary Dunaway.
You can register in advance by visiting hannibalregional.org/paws4cause or by contacting the Foundation at 573-629-3577. On the morning of the event, walkers can register at the fitness trail as well. Participants will get a Paws For a Cause t-shirt, a unique present for their pet, and a professional photo to commemorate the day as part of their paid registration. At 8 a.m., pictures will start close to the walk’s start line.
The walk’s proceeds will go toward the Hannibal Regional Foundation’s Legacy of Hope Campaign, which will help provide cancer care throughout the region. The Hannibal Regional Foundation encourages you to sign up right away and bring a friend, new or old, to this year’s Paws For a Cause walk!
