Missouri’s Hannibal. On Saturday, Aug. 9, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., the Hannibal Arts Council, located at 105 S. Main St., will offer a barn quilt painting class with Bohemian Folk Barn Quilts of Brookfield.
All materials needed to complete a 2-by-2-foot barn quilt painted on 3mm aluminum composite sign board will be provided in the session. Participants will select their favorite quilt design at registration, and at the session, their sign board will be primed, pattern-drawn, and prepared for painting. The day of the workshop will determine the specific paint selection.
Jennifer and Drew Wilkerson are folk artists and educators who work together as Bohemian Folk Barn Quilts. Brookfield is the location of their home studio. They have been on numerous travels across the United States for more than 22 years, during which time they had come across barn quilts. They began painting farm quilts for their own homes as their enthusiasm increased. As they create their own masterpiece and bring people together to explore the origins of this modern folk art endeavor, sharing has become their passion.
Adults and children aged 13 and older are welcome to enroll in the class, which has a maximum capacity of 16. The session costs $140 for the general public and $130 for members of the Hannibal Arts Council. The price includes tea, coffee, lunch, and refreshments.
The deadline for registration is August 8. The workshop can be registered at https://hannibalartscouncil.eventbrite.com, by phone at 573-221-6545, or in person at HAC, located at 105 S. Main St.
The Missouri Arts Council, a governmental organization, and the Hannibal Arts Council are sponsoring the workshop.
