Quincy An extended start date for filming in Quincy has been announced by the production team for Death of a Brewer, a new feature film based on true events involving the Midwest’s complex links leading up to Prohibition. Officially, production will start on Monday, August 25, instead of Monday, July 28 as originally planned.
This change in schedule makes it possible to better coordinate final logistics across several locations and better correspond with key cast availability. With special attention to historic sites like the Dick Brothers Brewery Complex and its famous tunnels, the Illinois Veterans Home, and ancient log cabins, the production is still steadfastly devoted to filming in Quincy, Galena, and Iowa City.
Director Mokotsi Rukundo stated in a press release, “This small change guarantees we have all the right pieces and people in place as we’re building something truly special.” We anticipate rolling cameras soon and are incredibly appreciative of the community’s support.
Based on a historical incident, Death of a Brewer is set in the late 19th century and examines the intricacies of the brewing business in the years preceding prohibition. The project, which has a diverse creative team with roots in Midwest filmmaking, combines historical reality with fictional storytelling.
