Adams County, Illinois. Residents and guests are welcome to take part in historic schoolhouse tours throughout Adams County as part of the county’s bicentennial festivities. These tours provide a unique opportunity to see the one-room schoolhouses that were once the mainstay of education in the area.
All tours are free for those who are at least 14 years old. Instructions and instructional materials must be reserved in advance. The school bus will be used for transportation, offering a genuine historical experience.
Dates and sites for the tour are:
- Payson Unit 1: Saturday, July 12, 1 to 5 p.m.
- Mendon Unit 4: Saturday, July 19, 1 to 5 p.m.
- Quincy Parochial Schools: Saturday, Aug. 16, 1 to 5 p.m.
- Liberty Unit 2: Saturday, Aug. 30, 1:0 to 5 p.m.
- Camp Point Unit 3: Saturday, Sept. 6, 9 a.m. to noon
- Quincy Public Schools: Saturday, Sept. 27, 1 to 5 p.m.
