On Wednesday, August 13, 2025, at 9:09 a.m., Donna Marie Wickman, 79, of Quincy, passed away in her home while her loved ones were there.

Donna was born in Decatur, Illinois, on May 4, 1946. Her parents were Walter and Helen (Koshinski) Gross. She wed William Mark Bill Wayne in 1967, and the two of them had three kids: Matthew, Lori, and Angie. On September 7, 1996, in Quincy, Donna later wed Rev. Allen Al Wickman. He lives.

Over the years, Donna served as the secretary of the Middle Illinois Tennis Association, taught tennis, and oversaw the Quincy and Galesburg Racquet Clubs. She most recently spent more than 13 years as the assistant manager at The Salvation Army Family Store. After retiring, Donna and her husband continued to volunteer there. She had a unique capacity to always make people feel welcome and make them smile, whether she was at work or out in the community.

Donna consistently participated in Bible studies and worship services throughout her life. In LaGrange, Missouri, Donna and Al were involved in fellowship at St. Peter’s. She also frequently went to Quincy’s The Crossing and Hope Church. She enjoyed listening to Christian music and serving others by sending greeting cards.

Up into her 50s, Donna played tennis competitively and was an active player. She would never boast, but for a time she held a high ranking in the Middle Illinois Tennis Association. She enjoyed observing birds, caring for her plants, and flower gardening. She liked to crochet as well. However, spending time with her family—especially her grandchildren, who were her pride and joy—was her favorite activity.

Along with her husband, Al, survivors include her two daughters, Lori (Jim) Beyer of Williamsport, Indiana, and Angie (J.D.) Neiswender of Quincy; four stepchildren, Kathy (Rich) Nelson of Quincy, Cyndi (David) Danehy of Lumberton, NC, Dave Wickman of Quincy, and Brian (Fotini) Wickman of Marengo, IL; fifteen grandchildren, Madeline (Isaac) Hunter, Meghan Beyer, Morgan (Chad) Englehardt, Madison (Lohgan) Curley, Bennett Neiswender, Alexander Wayne, Sarah and Elizabeth Nelson, Chloe and Juliet Danehy, and Theophano, Loukas, Euthalia, Anna, and Paisios Wickman; and a great-grandson, Harrison Curley.

Donna’s parents, brother Walter Bud Gross, and son Matthew Wayne passed away before her.
