One-hit wonders from the 1960s may end up being the greatest of all time. Welcome to The Daily Dirt’s Vol. 1,376: Three Thoughts for Today.

1. As promised, today we start our favorite one-hit wonders from pop music s golden era, featuring songs from the 1960s, 1970s and 1980s.

None of the songs by the majority of the bands and musicians we’ll be featuring this week even nearly matched the popularity of their original singles.

The 60s is where our best one-hit wonders begin:

1. Sugar Sugar (Archies, 1969): It’s interesting to note that the Monkees rejected this song.

2. McCoys’ Hang On Sloopy (1965): It is thought that jazz singer Dorothy Sloop served as the inspiration for the song’s main character, Sloopy.

3. Pied Piper by Crispian St. Peters (1966): The song’s title alludes to the Pied Piper of Hamelin, a fairy tale from German culture.

4. Crazy Elephant’s Gimme Gimme Good Lovin’ (1969):In the early days of Crazy Elephant, the group was made up of former Welsh coal miners. It didn’t.

5. The Equals’ 1968 song Baby Come Back: Little-known fact: Baby Come Back peaked at number one in both Belgium and Rhodesia.

6. “Little Bit O’ Soul” by the Music Explosion (1967): This song was covered by the Ramones and Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers.

7. Human Beinz’s 1968 song “Nobody But Me” is notable for its final refrain, which repeats the word “no” thirty-one times.

8. Shame Shame by the Magic Lanterns (1968): The Sabres were the initial name of the Magic Lanterns.

9. Little Girl by Syndicate of Sound (1966): Country music icon Dwight Yoakam has recorded this song as well.

10. 98.6 by Keith (1967): In the late 1980s, Keith adopted the moniker Bazza Keefer.

Particular recognition

  • Friday On My Mind, by the Easybeats (1967)
  • Eve of Destruction by Barry McGuire (1965)

The greatest one-hit wonders of the 1970s will be released on Monday.

2. Did you now (Part 459)

  • That when Paul McCartney sang at the opening ceremonies of the 2012 London Olympics, he was paid the equivalent of $1.57 in American funds.
  • That Stevie Nicks is the only woman indicted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame twice. In 1998, Nicks was inducted alongside her fellow band members of Fleetwood Mac, and in 2019, Nicks was again inducted as a solo artist.
  • That Frank Sinatra once said rock music was a rancid-smelling aphrodisiac played by cretinous goons .
  • That the guitar solo in the Beatles While My Guitar Gently Weeps is played by Eric Clapton.
  • That there are two songs that were recorded by the Beatles, Bob Dylan and Elvis Presley: That s Alright Mama and Yesterday:

3. Our Great Plate Debate IV personalized license-plate rankings remained stable for the first time in a few weeks, meaning that the current medal standings remain the same:
