Daily Dirt for Tuesday, July 8, 2025
Given the team’s improvement, I wonder whether Chisox supporters are drinking less this year. Welcome to The Daily Dirt’s Vol. 1,336: Three Thoughts for Today.
1. A recent report indicated which MLB fans enjoy consuming the most alcohol.
And we don’t just mean a brewski when we talk about booze.
According to USA Today writer Rick Suter, drinking at baseball games has changed in the current era to include a variety of alcoholic beverages, such as margaritas and stadium-specific concoctions.
Which fan consumes the most booze while watching a game, then? The list of the top locations from the just released 2024 statistics surprised me, at least. The 30 MLB teams’ medal winners are as follows:
The Chicago White Sox won the gold medal.Fans spend an average of $46 and have an average of 4.2 beverages every game at Rate Field.
Atlanta Braves won silver. At Truist Field, fans spend an average of $32 and consume an average of 4.0 beverages every game.
Cleveland Guardians won bronze. The Guardian supporters spend an average of $35 per game at Progressive Field and consume an average of 3.8 drinks due to Cleveland’s (lack of an) offense. It’s hard to blame them for attempting to ignore all of the runs their team has failed to score.
Additional clubs of interest:
13. Chicago Cubs: Although it costs more ($45), Cubbie fans consume 3.4 beers at each game.
15. Kansas City Royals: The typical drink costs KC fans $25, but they are good for an average of 3.3 drinks.
24. St. Louis Cardinals: With norms of 2.8 and $28, supporters of the Cards surprisingly rank close to the bottom.
2. Did you know (Part 419)
- That 30 percent of people can raise one eyebrow independent.
- That 8 percent of women and 0.5 percent of women are color blind.
- That 16 percent of humans have dry ear wax instead of wet.
- That men and women each lose between 50 and 100 hairs per day, according to the American Academy of Dermatology. It s a normal part of the hair growth cycle for hair to shed as new hairs grow in.
- That one in 3,000 people are born with either webbed toes or webbed fingers.
3. Fox Sports’ Joel Klatt has listed the top ten college football programs that will qualify for the playoffs for the first time this autumn. If he’s right, this year might be favorable for our area of the nation:
-
1. Illinois
- 2. Ole Miss
- 3. South Carolina
- 4. Miami (Fla.)
-
5. Iowa
-
6. Missouri
- 7. USC
- 8. Kansas State
- 9. Florida
- 10. Nebraska
Steve’s Daily ThoughtI would want to see a report showing which MLB stadiums sell the most A&W Root Beer, Mountain Dew, or Classic Coke.
Every day, Steve Eighinger contributes to Muddy River News. These days, being a White Sox fan does require heavy drinking.
