CANTON, MO. — Through a cooperative educational model with Hannibal Regional, Culver-Stockton College (C-SC) has announced the opening of a new Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program that allows students to obtain their degree in just three years.

Beginning early in college, the program offers students a smooth transition between classroom instruction and practical experience by fusing the clinical brilliance of Hannibal Regional with the academic power of C-SC. The curriculum, which is founded on experiential learning, innovation, and evidence-based practice, is dedicated to developing values-driven nurses who can lead responsibly, provide compassionate care, and enhance health outcomes both inside and outside of their communities.

In a press statement, Culver-Stockton College president Dr. Lauren Schellenberger stated that the program “builds on our commitment to experiential learning and provides students with a direct path into the healthcare workforce.” She continued, “We’re proud to provide our students with an outstanding educational experience while providing another significant solution to the growing demand for nurses.”

The future of healthcare in northeast Missouri depends on our region’s ability to meet the demand for qualified nurses, said C. Todd Ahrens, president and CEO of Hannibal Regional Healthcare System. We’re assisting kids in preparing for meaningful employment and creating a more robust and sustainable workforce locally through this collaboration with Culver-Stockton.

Highlights of the program include:

  • Completion of a BSN degree in three years
  • Direct admission to nursing
  • Real-world clinical training coordinated with Hannibal Regional
  • A strong academic foundation grounded in C-SC s experiential learning model
  • Personalized instruction and mentorship from faculty and clinical staff

After starting their curriculum online or on campus at Culver-Stockton, students will move on to immersive clinical learning that is arranged through Hannibal Regional.

According to Dr. Anne Riggs, director of the Culver-Stockton College School of Nursing with Hannibal Regional, this curriculum is genuinely created with the student in mind and is coordinated with Hannibal Regional and numerous other clinical partners. Every element of the program, from direct admission and small class groups to over 800 hours of practical experience, guarantees that students are encouraged, prepared, and successful.

The Missouri State Board of Nursing has granted the program initial approval, and the Higher Learning Commission is now reviewing it for final approval.

After clearance, C-SC will start accepting applications later this year or in early 2026.
