MENDON, Illinois. During the 2025 Adams County Fair, the Adams County Bicentennial Commission will hold two special ceremonies to recognize local companies and churches for their decades of community contribution. Churches that have served Adams County towns for 150 years or more, as well as companies that have been in operation for 100–149 years, will be honored at the fair. In the past, Memorial Day was used to honor companies and organizations that had served for more than 150 years.
The Adams County Fairgrounds’ recently built Heritage Farm Pavilion will host both ceremonies. The 36 churches and 27 companies that have been identified so far have received notification letters. If your company or place of worship fits the requirements and you don’t get a letter by July 5, send an email to [email protected] by July 13 at the latest to be officially recognized. The listing on the website www.adamsco200.org is another option.
The Adams County Fairgrounds, situated on Highway 336 between Mendon and Quincy, will host the 2025 Adams County Fair from Wednesday, July 23 to Tuesday, July 29.
Commemorative certificates will be presented to companies on Friday, July 25 at 6 p.m., while churches will receive certificates and signs on Sunday, July 27 at 1 p.m.
The public is welcome to come and honor the enduring contributions of these organizations that have shaped Adams County over the past 100 years.
