On Wednesday, August 20, 2025, Steven E. Fielding Sturg, 66, of Quincy, died at his Quincy, Illinois, residence.
Joseph and Delores (Neece) Fielding welcomed Sturg into the world on September 30, 1958, in Quincy, Illinois. On October 10, 1981, he married LeaAnn Humke in Quincy, Illinois. She makes it through.
Two great-grandchildren, Mayzie and Haven; one sister, Brenda McGinley (Butch); and his three children, Steven Fielding Jr. (Jennifer), Krista Fielding, and Shawn Fielding; ten grandchildren, Kevin, Kaylee, Kyler, Katelynne, Kaydon, Lily, Autreyu, Addy, Alayna, and Adelynn; are among the other survivors.
Sturg’s parents, brother Joseph Fielding, and sister Linda Barton passed away before him.
Throughout his career, Sturg worked as a line cook at Kelly’s, where he was a talented chef who constantly aimed to improve his dishes. He was well-known among his coworkers as a dependable and amiable figure in the kitchen, always willing to lend a hand or share a story.
Sturg had several interests outside of his career. The peace of fishing was comforting to him. At his favorite casinos, he enjoyed the thrill of playing slots. Sturg was a passionate poker player who also relished the game’s sense of community. He was a huge fan of WWE, the UFC, and boxing.
Sturg’s life was enriched with music, and he frequently saw artists like REO Speedwagon, Ozzy Osbourne, Skid Row, and Shinedown in concertgoers. Some of his most cherished memories were of these live music performances.
But most importantly, Sturg was a family man. He was well-known to his grandchildren for making sure the pool was kept clean for their summertime enjoyment. He was known to his pets as a kind caregiver. He was LeaAnn’s soulmate, and they shared intimate moments that are now treasured recollections.
Although Sturg’s loss leaves a hole in the hearts of those who knew him, we will all be inspired by his generosity, joy of life, and unshakeable devotion to his family. He will be sorely missed.
On Wednesday, August 27, 2025, from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm, friends and family are invited to visit Sturg’s Life Celebration at the O Donnell-Cookson Life Celebration Home in Quincy, IL.
