Quincy The Illinois Department of Natural Resources (IDNR) is investigating a reported drowning on the Mississippi River Tuesday evening.
On Tuesday, Missouri police officers reported a boating incident on the river north of Quincy to the Quincy Police Department and the Adams County Sheriff’s Office (ACSO). According to the first complaint, someone lost sight of a man who had fallen into the water from a boat.
Along with other first responders, such as the Voluntary Emergency Corps, water rescue teams from the Tri-Township Fire Department (TTFD) and Quincy Fire Department were sent out. Drones were deployed by TTFD and Adams County Emergency Management to search the area from Memorial Bridge to Hogback Island.
The body was turned over to Adams County Coroner Scott Graham when the victim was located. Notification of the victim’s relatives is pending identification.
The IDNR is in charge of the probe, according to an ASCO news release.
