David F. Huseman — Hansen-Spear

On Saturday, August 2, 2025, David F. Huseman, 80, of Quincy, Illinois, passed away quietly at home.

David was born on June 10, 1945, and completed Christian Brothers High School in 1963. He is the son of Dorothy (Gengenbacher) and James Menn. On September 25, 1965, he wed Judy Schutte, his high school girlfriend. He spent six years in the Missouri National Guard. After graduating from the University of Illinois, Dave worked at Electric Wheel and Lago Marcino before spending more than 30 years as a carrier, clerk, and eventually supervisor at the Quincy Post Office. For many years, David served on the Quincy Postal Credit Union’s board of directors.

David used to like fishing and playing golf with his friends, which eventually evolved into lunch conversations about golfing days. He liked spending time with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren and was extremely proud of them. He loved to travel, play cards, and hang out with friends and his wife. He spent 57 years as an usher and in the adoration chapel at St. Peter Parish. He was formerly a member of the Elks Club and a member of the K of C.

David’s wife, Judy, his children, Scott (Theresa) Huseman, Randy (Tara) Huseman, Michelle Shelly (David) Reichert, and Chris (Julie) Huseman, as well as his grandchildren, Katie, Brandon (Lexi), Trevor, Kayla (Dana) Hurt, Alexis, Parker, Emily, Elise, Elliott, Elijah, Eleanor, and Evan Huseman, survive him. Along with two sisters-in-law, Pat Huseman and Leanne (Dan) Hollensteiner, a brother-in-law, Mike (Donna) Schutte, and a host of nieces and nephews, he is also survived by great grandsons Isaac, Mia, Jayden, Damon, Nova, and Noah.

In-laws Junior and Marian Schutte, stepfather-in-law Lowell McGlaughlin, brother Edmund L. Huseman, and parents Dorothy and James Menn all passed away before David.

Visitation: Thursday, August 7, 2025, from 9:30 to 11:00 am at Quincy’s Church of St. Peter.

11:00 am is the service time. Mass at Quincy’s Church of St. Peter on Thursday, August 7, 2025.

Greenmount Cemetery in Quincy, Illinois is the place of burial.
