Quincy As the Fall 2025 semester gets underway, John Wood Community College is getting ready to welcome students back to campus. Fall classes begin on Monday, August 18, and there are several session alternatives to suit the needs of the students. The 12-week session starts on September 15; the second 8-week session starts on October 15; the 16-week and first 8-week sessions start on August 18.

Josh Welker, interim president of the JWCC and dean of business services and institutional effectiveness, said in a press release, “We are encouraged by the continued growth in enrollment, which reflects the value students and families place on a quality, affordable education close to home.” This autumn, we’re still committed to helping students achieve their academic and professional objectives by being there for them from the first day until they graduate.

The Quincy campus will provide extra hours for student services in order to assist students prior to the start of the semester. From August 4 through August 19, offices will be open Monday through Thursday from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Friday from 8 a.m. to noon.

Services Offered Throughout Extended Hours:

  • Advising
  • Admissions
  • Bookstore
  • Business Office
  • Campus Care
  • Financial Aid
  • IT

Please be aware that JWCC’s Bella Ease in Quincy, Southeast Education Center, Agricultural Education Center, Mount Sterling Education Center, and Workforce Development Center are not subject to these additional hours.

According to Rachel Hansen, dean of student affairs, access to student services shouldn’t be a hindrance to success or enrollment. By providing longer hours, we’re removing barriers and guaranteeing that every student has fair access to the materials they require to begin the semester educated and ready.

Sessions of orientation have already begun. On Thursday, August 14, orientation is mandatory for all incoming students.

During Welcome Week, August 18–21, JWCC will organize a number of student engagement events. Additional events are planned for August 26–28.

  • Monday, Aug. 18: First day of school photos, custom pennant flag station, and opportunities to connect with fellow Trail Blazers.
