Quincy Post Office is hiring and fast

Career job starts at more than $24 an hour

Quincy The Quincy Post Office’s postmaster, Clint Whitley, visited Muddy River News to make a pressing request of letter carriers in order to ensure that the mail is delivered consistently.

Whitley stated, “We desperately need help.” We have positions that need to be filled due to retirement and attrition because we are required to provide this service to our clients. Therefore, I don’t want any service delays or lapses.

This is concerning given that homeowners have complained to MRN on multiple occasions about going days without mail.

According to Whitley, letter mail is still used in the era of email and social media. Additionally, he stated that letter carriers are the backbone of the community, frequently serving as the neighborhood’s eyes and ears while delivering necessary medications, particularly to the elderly.

Whitley demanded that we still receive letters every day. We often receive 35,000 packages every week at the Quincy office alone. In addition, city couriers often handle between 20,000 and 40,000 pieces of letter mail per day.

According to Whitley, there are eighteen career PTF (part-time flexible) letter carrier positions available. The hourly starting wage is $24.58. In addition, there is a pension, twelve sick days annually, eleven paid holidays, and two weeks of paid vacation time at the beginning of the 90-day period. Additionally, he stated that until the carrier hits the highest pay bracket, which for city carriers is approximately $81,000 annually, pay increases occur every four to six weeks.

Additionally, delivery jobs are available in rural areas immediately past Scottie’s Fun Spot, east of Broadway, and along the outskirts of Quincy, from Ursa to Marblehead.

According to Whitley, those positions start at $21 per hour and will eventually lead to a career post after the full-time carriers retire.

This past July marked the 250th anniversary of the U.S. Post Office. Whitley advises against trusting national news reports that highlight the agency’s financial and modernization issues.

We will not be moving. It doesn’t matter to me whether side of the aisle you’re on. I believe that the service we provide to our American citizens is something that everyone can appreciate.
