Wednesday, August 13, 2025: Daily Dirt
Let’s start the countdown. Welcome to The Daily Dirt’s Vol. 1,372: Three Thoughts for Today.
1. We re going to have some fun in the coming days with two extremes.
We will start by listing the 30 most worthy bands and individuals who ought to be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame but whose careers have been overlooked or skipped over for whatever reason. Although this has always been a hot issue on The Daily Dirt, we’ve put together a definitive order for the first time. We’ll start that process today.
Second, once more in a decisive manner, we will examine the greatest one-hit wonders. If you’re like me, you’ll be wondering, “How could they not have had a follow-up hit?” after looking at some of these specific items.
Let’s begin by identifying the top ten bands and individuals that we believe ought to be inducted into the Rock Hall of Fame. Nos. 30 through 21 will be in operation today:
30. War: The disco fervor of the 1970s lost the interracial funk band. Why Can’t We Be Friends? was the standout song from War’s fantastic run of hits. Cisco Kid and Low Rider.
29. Slade: With the recent induction of T. Tex, there is hope for additional glam-rock inductees. Wearing some of the most outrageous outfits ever, Slade revived stomp-based rock music for the general public. Feel the noize and cum on!
28. Badfinger: This band had a unique and popular sound, along with a strong run of successes, but they never quite lived up to the power-pop hoopla that surrounding them.
27. Marvellettes: For a long time, this girl group has been disregarded. Few people know that Motown’s first No. 1 song was from the Marvelletes.
26. Give credit to KC and the Sunshine Band. Like no other ensemble, it was able to combine disco with dance.
25. Steppenwolf: Featuring the dynamic lead singer John Kay and the hits Born to be Wild and Magic Carpet Ride, this band is one of the best from the late 1960s.
24. Commodores: This group dominated the pop chart and was the first R&B group of the late 1970s. Lionel Richie was another gift from the Commodores.
23. Grand Funk Railroad: These guys dominated the mid-1970s for a spell.
22. Paul Revere and the Raiders: Although it took a while for this band to gain recognition, they are now regarded as the pioneers of power pop, new wave, and punk.
21. Pet Shop Boys: They have a fantastic rendition of “Always On My Mind.” This also applies to their work on What Have I Done to Deserve This with Dusty Springfield.
Next: Nos. 20 through 11 will be revealed.

Steve’s Daily ThoughtI usually end The Daily Dirt with a sarcastic remark, but not today. I would like to express my gratitude to Dr. Joe Gira, an ophthalmologist, and Dr. Kristie Chevalier, an optometrist, who essentially held my hand. I’m not a fearless man since I’ve had three eye surgeries in the last few months that have improved my vision more than it has ever been. With the exception of reading, I no longer even require glasses, and the clarity and crispness of the world around me are HD-caliber. It’s very amazing, and they deserve all the praise. I will always be appreciative.
Every day, Steve Eighinger contributes to Muddy River News. He can see much better, but he still has Mr. Magoo’s appearance.
