HANNIBAL, Mo. — The Douglass Community Services CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) program celebrated a significant milestone on May 14 as Katie Neff was officially sworn in as the new CASA volunteer director, and Patty Voeple was sworn in as the newest CASA volunteer. The ceremony was held at the Marion County Courthouse and officiated by Judge John Jackson.
Neff steps into her new leadership role with a commitment to child advocacy and a passion for supporting vulnerable youth in the community. As volunteer director, Neff will oversee the recruitment, training and ongoing support of CASA volunteers who serve as a voice for children involved in the foster care system.
Patty Voeple joins the CASA program as a newly trained volunteer. She recently completed the 32-hour CASA training program and is now prepared to represent the best interests of children in the courtroom and the community.
In a press release, Neff expressed her enthusiasm about her new role, saying, “I am honored to step into this position and support our dedicated CASA volunteers. Every child deserves a voice, and I’m committed to ensuring our program continues to advocate effectively and compassionately on their behalf.”
“Today we celebrate not just the individuals stepping into these important roles, but the powerful impact they will have on the lives of local children,” said Emily Trevathan, Douglass Community Services chief operations officer. “The work of CASA is vital, and it’s inspiring to see passionate people like Katie and Patty stepping up to serve.”
The CASA program at Douglass Community Services is a cornerstone of child advocacy in Northeast Missouri, helping ensure that every child has a safe, permanent and nurturing home. Volunteers are specially trained to advocate for children who have experienced abuse or neglect and are navigating the complexities of the court system.
